WHAT IS
SUSAN ?
An online gallery on a human scale that highlights the know-how of emerging French craftsmen and artists. Through a careful selection of unique objects made in France, Suzan establishes a link between tradition and modernity. A bias that advocates a return to natural materials and techniques of yesteryear, while supporting responsible, sustainable and fashionable design.
Gathering these creations within the same space, creating encounters, blurring the boundaries between craftsmanship, design, art and decoration: this is what Suzan offers.
WHO IS SUZAN?
Behind Suzan there is Clément, and both rhyme with “craftsman”.
Coming from a course in applied arts ranging from product design to visual communication, I was web artistic director in a large press group for nearly five years, before becoming an independent graphic designer.
Then I finally wanted something else, to be able to work on my scale on a more relevant, more human and sensitive project, echoing contemporary environmental issues. Faced with this challenge, (re)putting craftsmanship center stage seemed to me to be part of the answer.
